We are seeking assistant teachers for our early childhood outdoor-based programs. Lakeside School offers three early childhood programs: Sprouts child care for children ages 1 to 3, Farm and Forest Pre-K for children ages 3 to 4.5, and Farm and Forest Kindergarten for children ages 4.5 to 6. In our Pre-K and Kindergarten programs, every day is an outside day. The children hike to a different environment each day of the week and experience firsthand the wonders of the natural world and its many cycles. In their forest classroom, the children's imaginations are inspired by huge trees, fallen logs, mossy boulders, and winding creeks. While exploring, the children build outdoor skills and become comfortable outdoors in all seasons. The Sprouts child care program provides a predictable and steady rhythm in a home-like environment. Children have ample opportunities to safely experience independence and movement through outdoor play, animal care, and farm activities. The dynamic and sometimes rugged terrain allows little ones to develop a strong and healthy will, problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, and a blooming sense of life. Connections with the teachers and children in the other classes creates a broad, caring community for the Sprouts children. The assistant teachers work with our lead teachers and other assistants to provide a program using Waldorf early childhood methods. The assistants support the lead teachers in implementing curriculum, preparing snacks, cleaning up, and managing the care and safety of the children indoors and out. We are looking for individuals who are experienced in caring for young children, comfortable with leading children in outdoor adventures, have a background or an interest in learning more about Waldorf education, and who are responsible and caring individuals. Lakeside School offers a base rate of $17.50 per hour, paid sick leave, a paid monthly wellness day off and a professional development stipend.
